How to realign your chakras when you're in a funk

I feel like this past holiday season came through like a tornado and stirred up a bunch of chaos up in my life. Anyone else? I usually look forward to the holidays, but I didn't feel the magic this time around... I felt stressed and a bit sad more than anything. It seemed that I was being pulled in a thousand directions, taking care of and entertaining everyone but myself.

Between traveling and seeing my family, to working both Christmas and New Years, to meeting new people and enjoying the festivities, I was completely depleted of energy, and I felt super out of touch with my intuition and my passions. My sleep, digestion, and adrenals took a big hit, and I really missed spending time with my friends. I was in a bit of a funk from New Years until mid-last week, and there was nothing more I wanted than to be alone.

In hindsight I was distracting myself from what was really going on inside, but nonetheless, it was a lesson I needed to learn. I cried and slept a bunch, eased up on the caffeine, reunited with some of my favorite people, and decided it was time to come home to my soul.

So with that, I created this guide to balance the chakra system. Try this out whenever you are going through a rough time and need to come back into alignment:

Root (stability/grounding)- rest, take care of your home space (clean, decorate), get your finances in order, plan out your day/week, create a daily routine, spend time alone in nature, read a book

Sacral (creativity/pleasure) - come back into your body through dance, flow, self-pleasure; tap into your creativity by painting, drawing, cooking/baking; light your favorite candle, buy yourself flowers

Solar plexus (courage, willpower) - exercise, step out of your comfort zone, focus on goals/projects, try something new, set boundaries, follow your fire (what lights you up?)

Heart (love, relationships) - forgive yourself and others, fill up your own cup first, be compassionate, release judgement and criticism, practice detachment and surrender, spend time with friends and family

Throat (self-expression) - go shopping, update your wardrobe, write, sing, play an instrument, express your truth

Third-eye/crown (intuition/connection to source) - meditate, create a ritual for the upcoming moon cycle or season, practice tarot, set intentions, write/speak mantras, get a reading

Taking this sacred pause was exactly what I needed to feel whole again. I'm learning that the more time I spend alone, the more I learn about my inner world, which is so essential when it comes to our wellbeing and growth.

Remember to always start with the 1st chakra (the root) and work your way up. You can do a chakra a day or you can combine a couple as well! Let me know how this works for you and what your favorite activity is :)

Namaste.
